Sundarbans - A place that elicits a variety of emotions in people who have heard many stories about the place and haven’t yet had a chance to visit. Stories that evoke fear, mystery, shock, surprise, amazement and magnificence among others. My tour to the place in November of 2019 was unbelievable to say the least. The things that I and my group experienced are very hard to come by in the natural world....
The Beach thick-knee, also known as the Beach stone-curlew is a large, ground dwelling bird found in the islands of South-east Asia and Australia. They are primarily seen along the beaches, reefs and estuaries and rarely venture even a few meters inland from these habitats. Heavy human activity on beaches in certain areas confine these birds to small offshore islands. From just a faint hope of seeing a beautiful rarity it turned into a wonderful evening spent observing the Beach thick knee and its behaviour....
Elephants, the majestic mammals, not only enjoy spending time in water, but they are also excellent swimmers too. Watching one first hand is an amazing moment indeed!
