It was summer, the heat was picking up and the noise levels at home were rising too, with the kids being on holiday. It seemed like an opportune time for a quick family outing. As we broached this idea with one of our closest friends ( BFFs, in fact 🙂 ) from Chennai, they concurred on a similar situation at their place and immediately agreed on a summer jaunt. Deliberations on which place to go to, began....
Bandipur was the destination of choice for a quick family getaway on one of the recent long weekends. Few reasons for the choice. a) Was yearning for a wilderness experience b) Had never been on a proper safari in Bandipur before. The only thing I remember was the 30min long Forest department safari which kind of finished in a blink. Only thing we saw was an Indian Grey mongoose which just so happened to come onto the jeep track....

Dolphins, are NOT FISH, a common misconception. They are highly intelligent and charismatic marine mammals. Bottlenose dolphins, the ones you see in the images here, belong to the genus Tursiops and are the most common members of the family Delphinidae, the family of Oceanic dolphins. They are widespread, inhabiting the warm and temperate waters worldwide. There are 3 distinct species of Bottlenose dolphins found across the world. The Common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops aduncus) and the Burrunan dolphin (Tursiops australis)....
Many places hold the title of the ‘Land of dreams’ from a perspective of offering good business opportunities, a wonderful career and a monetary standpoint. For me, Africa signifies the ‘Land of wildlife dreams’. Each time I embark on a journey to the varied wildlife destinations of the continent, I dream and try to visualise the kind of sightings and image making opportunities that I would love to encounter. With wildlife and the weather being as unpredictable as they are, most of them stay as dreams....
